I’m listening to Oregon Public Radio, which is rebroadcasting a 2008 episode of Radiolab that examines laughter, including laughter in animals (they tickle rats!), professional sitcom laughers, and — right up my alley — the contagiousness of laughter.
Regular readers know that I believe smiling is contagious, or, more broadly, that happiness as an emotion is contagious. That final segment on contagious laughter details an actual laughter epidemic! It’s actually not as pleasant as you’d think, but the ultimate conclusion that laughter serves a social function appeals to me a lot, and I thought I’d share it with all of you. 🙂
